During July-August, young project participants – children of primary and secondary school age, interested in ecology, environmental protection, and biodiversity, observed birds in real life. The children, together with power engineers, visited places where storks built nests on electricity poles.

In 2021, DTEK Grids launched the #EnergyWings project to help preserve the white storks population in Ukraine and draw public attention to an important topic – caring for wildlife.
#EnergyWings is an ecological and educational project that combines the actions of business, the future generation of Ukrainians, and contemporary art. Its main goal is to promote the protection and conservation of biodiversity, ESG principles, as well as values and business responsibilities for progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Global Compact.
The participants of the project are educational institutions of Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Odesa regions, the birds' protection society, young naturalists, contemporary Ukrainian artist, the media, customers and employees of DTEK Grids.

The next stage of the project
A record number of special protective platforms for stork nests will be installed – 122, within just one month (September 2021) in Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kyiv regions.
Also, as a part of the project in October 2021, contemporary art sculptures will be installed in Kyiv and Odesa.
Next year, the project will be extended to other regions of Ukraine.
