Basics of energy management and energy audit of buildings and structures were taught for two days at the premises of DTEK Dniprooblenergo. Serhii Svystiuk, Project Manager of DTEK ESCO, has carried out theoretical and practical training on the energy audit methods and energy management systems development. Following the training, each participant had 2 months to do a practical “homework” including the development of energy efficiency measures at power facilities of distribution companies.
All trainees successfully presented their projects which will underpin the Strategic Program for implementing energy efficiency measures at the distribution enterprises of DTEK Energy. The trained employees will use special tools and software to find the causes of energy losses (both thermal and electric) and develop measures to eliminate losses. DTEK Dniprooblenergo will implement first projects already in 2017.
“Buildings and structures themselves are the end consumer that should be considered above all else, this is about the energy consumption culture. The cost saving potential in buildings and facilities of regional power distribution companies is the money that is better spent on improving the quality of electric power supply to consumers,” noted Serhii Svystiuk, Project Manager of DTEK ESCO.
Now power engineers will create a unified base of all distribution facilities and an energy management system in accordance with international standard ISO 50001:2011 that describes an enterprise’s approach to the arrangement of energy consumption, control and efficient use. The standard will have been introduced at capital enterprise KYIVENERGO by the end of the year. A similar project is to be implemented at DTEK Dniprooblenergo in 2017.
“The energy management system will encourage efficient use of financial and energy resources. We will be able to direct the saved funds into constructing new grids, increasing the reliability of power supply and improving the service for our customers,” noted Alina Bondarenko, Director for Development and Services of DTEK’s distribution enterprises, at the presentation of certificates to trainees.
