AFP: In Donbass, Ukrainian coal miners "on the energy front"

"Coal is very important," said Sergei Faraonov, head of a DTEK mine's production department, in a recent interview with Agencies France-Presse (AFP). "Without our miners, there will be no light or heating for our Ukraine."

In their story, AFP highlights the crucial role of DTEK's coal miners in maintaining Ukraine's energy security amid ongoing war.

The feature spotlights the dedication of DTEK's mining personnel who continue their vital work despite the complex security situation. The article emphasises the strategic importance of coal production, which accounts for nearly 22% of Ukraine's total energy supply, according to the International Energy Agency.

Oksana, a DTEK colleague at the mine, said: "It's hard to stay calm and focused when your kids are in danger." Despite these difficulties, DTEK's personnel continue their critical work to ensure energy stability for the country.

The article highlights DTEK's commitment to supporting its workforce, including those affected by the conflict. The company maintains strict security measures to protect its operations and has implemented backup power systems to ensure continuous mine operation during power outages.
