We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join our team as the Commercial Asset Manager, specializing in the renewable energy sector with a specific focus on wind, solar, and battery storage projects. In this role you are responsible for overseeing the financial and operational performance of solar and wind power plant assets. This role involves optimizing revenue generation, managing contracts, monitoring performance metrics, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The Commercial Asset Manager collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to maintain the “license to operate”, maximize the profitability and long-term success of the renewable energy assets.
What you will do
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize revenue generation and profitability of solar and wind power plants and battery storage.
- Monitor and analyse financial performance, including revenue, costs, and investment returns, to identify areas for improvement.
- Conduct financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting to optimize asset performance together with the Valuation Manager and assess the impact of market conditions and regulatory changes.
- Build and maintain relationships with service contractors, off takers, local authorities and other stakeholders involved in the renewable energy assets.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the operational and technical performance of the solar and wind power plants.
- Analyze performance data, including energy production, equipment efficiency, and downtime, to identify opportunities for optimization and performance improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and permits related to the operation and maintenance of solar and wind power plants.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, market rules, and incentive programs to maximize financial incentives and maintain compliance.
- Prepare regular reports on the financial and operational performance of the power plants, including revenue, expenses, production, and key performance metrics.
- Conduct analysis of market trends, energy market prices, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for optimization and revenue enhancement.
- Provide regular updates and presentations to stakeholders, including senior management, regarding asset performance, financial forecasts, and strategic initiatives.
What you bring
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in commercial asset management, preferably in the renewable energy sector, with a focus on solar and wind power plants or battery storage.
- Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to analyse financial statements, conduct financial modelling, and assess investment returns.
- Knowledge of the solar and wind power industry, including regulatory frameworks, incentive programs, and market dynamics.
- Familiarity with power purchase agreements (PPAs), service contracts, and other relevant contracts in the renewable energy sector.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and manage multiple priorities.
- Understanding of power plant operations, maintenance best practices, and performance optimization.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and reporting obligations in the renewable energy sector.
