DTEK’s Strategy and Finance Director Oleg Tymkiv has been selected as Ukraine’s best finance director in 2020 by the magazine, TOP 100: Director Rankings.

The awards ceremony for the winners of the respective categories took place yesterday in Kyiv.

The publication’s ranking included approximately 90 finance directors from Ukraine’s largest companies. The final ranking was defined by two groups: one by an expert jury, composed of representatives from international companies specializing in the search and evaluation of senior executives, recruitment companies and consultancies, which accounted for 60% of the voting rights. The other score was awarded by the publication’s editorial board with a voting weight of 40%. The expert jury evaluated financial managers according to five criteria: reputation on the market, performance results, innovative thinking, strategic planning and crisis management.

DTEK's Strategy and Finance Director Oleg Tymkiv said, “Placing first in the ranking is recognition of DTEK's longstanding contribution to the development of the domestic energy sector, as well as a testament to the professionalism and financial expertise of the team”.

“I would like to thank the jury, the experts and the editorial board for such a high appraisal of DTEK's performance. This is an achievement for our whole team. We are particularly pleased that our work and efforts were praised in such a challenging and turbulent year for both the Ukrainian and global economy”, he added.

According to Mr Tymkiv, 2020 was a significant year for DTEK as the company celebrated its 15th anniversary and also presented its new 2030 Strategy. Since DTEK’s establishment in 2005, the company has invested $11.9 bn in energy and sustainable development, becoming the largest private national investor and a reliable pillar for society and the state during the country’s transformation period.

“The energy produced by the company illuminates and warms our homes, allows our children attain an education in schools, helps to treat our citizens in hospitals, and empowers new technologies. It underpins the country’s social development progress. Today, our main business activities are concentrated in Ukraine, but our ambition is to become a successful Ukrainian company on the European stage," outlined the Strategy and Finance Director .

According to Mr Tymkiv, global trends will continue to affect Ukraine's energy sector. “They will determine the country’s development, as we move towards low-carbon technologies and innovations”.
