DTEK, together with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, provided 40’000 rapid tests for the detection of coronavirus to the Luhansk and Ivano-Frankivsk regions
DTEK, together with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, has purchased and sent 40’000 rapid tests for the detection of coronavirus to the Luhansk and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. Diagnostic materials received by physicians in these the regions will help them counteract the coronavirus.
The need for rapid tests in the Luhansk and Ivano-Frankivsk regions was determined by representatives of the DTEK Headquarters together with representatives of local authorities and the community.
“We are convinced that only joint actions by representatives of the community, business and government can help solve the problems that Ukraine faces in this emergency. Responsible companies should demonstrate, through example, that business can support society in difficult periods. Today, we made 40,000 rapid tests available to doctors to identify COVID-19. This will make the swift identification of sick people possible and help in the fight against the spread of coronavirus”, said DTEK Energy Director for Regional Policy Tatiana Overina.
Tatiana Overina also noted that the company, acting in the interests of Ukraine, took urgent measures to counter the emergency that has developed with the spread of coronavirus. This applies to both helping the regions and caring for employees.
A headquarters has been set up at DTEK to coordinate and manage the actions that need to be taken in the regions where enterprises operate, to prevent the spread of coronavirus among employees and minimize the risks of the spread of infection among citizens. At the regional level, representatives of the DTEK Headquarters together with representatives of the authorities and communities form the priority resource needs of the regions.
“Rinat Akhmetov allocated UAH 300 million to help Ukraine in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic. For this, he has consolidated the efforts of the Charity Foundation, DTEK, FC Shakhtar, Metinvest and other SCM assets. To further support the country, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has purchased, brought and transferred 300,000 rapid tests to the Stabilization Fund, initiated by the President of Ukraine. And now, they are disseminated to medical institutions in different parts of the country on a near daily basis. These are highly sensitive tests for initial diagnosis. They will allow doctors to diagnose the virus and isolate its carriers in just 15 minutes to prevent the spread of COVID-19”, said Natalya Emchenko, a member of the Fund’s Supervisory Board.
As known, Rinat Akhmetov was one of the first in Ukraine to provide charitable assistance to state medical institutions in preparation for the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. By combining the efforts of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, as well as all the businesses of the SCM group of companies, contributions are being made to overcome the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic in Ukraine.
