DTEK ESCO Has Presented an Energy Service for Households
DTEK ESCO intends to invest 7 million hryvnias in the energy efficiency of multi-apartment residential buildings in 2017. During the presentation of the Energy Service arranged for representatives of 150 residential buildings in Kyiv, several associations of co-owners of residential buildings and housing associations expressed their readiness to enter into energy service contracts. DTEK ESCO is currently considering an opportunity for extending its energy service program to other Ukrainian cities.
An energy service is a set of services covering the implementation of turn-key energy efficiency projects, including financing provided to purchase equipment and installation of the equipment made by ESCO as an investor. ESCO guarantees the savings of energy resources and performs maintenance of the equipment during the entire term of the contract. Associations of co-owners of residential buildings and housing associations can benefit from the energy service by using it as an additional instrument for financing energy and insulation upgrade of residential buildings.
“Energy Service opens up additional opportunities for the 70/30 municipal program for financing energy efficiency efforts, and for such banking products as ‘warm loans’. We help residents of multi-apartment buildings save money during energy saving efforts, and achieve additional energy savings. Unlike loans, an energy service does not bear any interest or commissions. The residents will have to pay for the entire set of services constituting an energy service offered by DTEK ESCO only when real energy resources savings are made,” explained Roman Fedorchenko, Director of DTEK ESCO.
There are two basic conditions for receiving the energy service: a desire of people living in a building to perform energy saving measures, and an energy audit report. An energy audit can be performed by DTEK ESCO specialists or by independent auditors, or even by the building residents who completed a three-day course at DTEK Academy.
Representatives of associations of co-owners of residential buildings and housing associations can familiarize themselves with the detailed terms and conditions of an energy service contract by contacting DTEK ESCO. “In addition to the guaranteed energy savings, DTEK ESCO monitors such savings, performs maintenance of the equipment installed by the company, provides advice on additional energy saving measures, facilitates the preparation of a building for a winter season, and supports the functioning of the energy management system during the entire term of the energy service contract. After the contractual term expires, DTEK ESCO transfers the ownership of the equipment to the associations of co-owners of residential buildings and housing associations”, explained Oleksandr Kozhoma, Head of the Energy Service Division for Residential Buildings.
