DTEK’s scale and dynamics of development make it feasible not only to set and attain ambitious operational targets, but also align the ways to achieve them with our commitments to society.
Such an approach is based on the fundamentals of the Company’s business:

• our products are of vital importance for the key sectors of Ukrainian economy;
• DTEK brings light and warmth to millions of citizens;
• our potential and managerial experience is a valuable resource for the development of the regions where DTEK’s enterprises are located;
• ecological well-being of towns and rural communities located near our enterprises largely depend on competent and responsible management of the environmental impact of our activities.
  
  We want to be perceived as a socially responsible company, which means for us to be a conscientious employer, tax payer and social investor, not substituting state bodies but contributing to the social and economic development of the regions where our enterprises operate. Company’s systematic approach and sustainability of our practical steps are manifested in DTEK’s CSR Policy adopted in December 2008, after discussion of the draft which had been made public for the employees and stakeholders.
  
  In the framework of practical realization of our corporate responsibility DTEK launches pioneering social partnership programmes in the regions of our operations, promotes cooperation with stakeholders and enhances managerial practices in the field of charity. DTEK joined The UN Global Compact, a universal international framework of social responsibility principles that we share and support, and chaired the Working Group on Human Rights of the Ukrainian network of the Global Compact’s participants. DTEK’s Global Compact Communication on Progress report committed to 10 principles was featured in the GC’s Notable COP Program; 300 companies out of 5.5 thousand received such recognition. DTEK is the only Ukrainian company distinguished by UN GC Secretariat www.unglobalcompact.org/COP/notable_cops.html.
  
  In 2008, DTEK published a Corporate Social Responsibility Report, the first (and as of today the only) report prepared by an Ukrainian industrial company in line with the internationally recognized non-financial reporting standards, which was verified by an independent audit company. In future we intend to publish social reports every second year, gradually improving the quality and depth of information provided to society. The feedback from the readers of the Company’s first report will be used for further perfection of our work to implement such key corporate values of DTEK as responsibility and openness.
