Kiev, 29 May 2008. - Within the framework of the implementation of its development strategy, Donbass Fuel-Energy Company is interested in the diversification of raw material sources for thermal generation in Ukraine, particularly in the acquisition of promising coal companies outside Ukraine, which includes Russia.
Mines producing steam coal grades are of priority for the Company. Furthermore, the efficiency of the whole production chain of DTEK requires new coal assets to be geographically close to the company’s generating capacities in Eastern Ukraine.
Currently, Donbass Fuel-Energy Company is considering the acquisition of Chikha mine in the Rostov Region of Russia, where recoverable reserves of steam coal are about 50m tons.
