DTEK Intends to Increase Coal Exports 6.3 Times to 1m Tons in 2009

The company DTEK (Donetsk) is planning to increase coal exports in 2009 6.25 times, or by 0.84 m tons y-o-y, to reach about 1 m tons, DTEK’s press-service informed the agency Ukrainsky Novyny.
 
Since the beginning of 2009, the company has already sold about 0.2 m tons of coal in external markets.

The key consumers of coals exported by DTEK are power plants, cement works and sugar refineries, small industrial companies and household consumers in Turkey, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania and Lebanon.

The press service indicates that due to previous operational improvements in the company DTEK has improved the quality parameters of its coal products.

In particular, the caloric value of exported coal is 6 thousand kcal, and sulphur content is below 1%.

In 2008, DTEK exported 0.16m tons of coal.

As informed by the agency, DTEK finished 2008 with a net profit of UAH321.495m having increased its net income on a y-o-y basis 4.15 times, or by UAH3874.307m to total UAH5,103.432m.

DTEK operates the energy assets of the System Capital Management (Donetsk).

DTEK includes coal mining companies DTEK Pavlogradugol and DTEK Komsomolets Donbassa Mine, a number of coal processing plants, the energy generating company DTEK Vostokenergo and energy supplying companies DTEK Service-Invest and DTEK Energougol ENE.
