Komsomolets Donbassa Mine is the biggest producer of thermal coal with an annual output of about 3 million tons, which is 4.4% of the national Ukrainian output. The mine has its own coal enrichment complex ensuring low ash content in the product being sold.

Produced coal of T (meager) grade is a thermal type of coal and has a high-quality chemical composition. Its heat conducting ability is very close to that of anthracites. This coal is in high demand at thermal power plants in Ukraine, Moldova, Bulgaria and Slovakia. Concordant co-operation with the enterprises within DTEK provide new advantages and, first of all, - an effective sale of coal. The biggest amount of coal is shipped to a partner within DTEK–the power-generating company Vostokenergo. Such inter-relations allow increasing energy efficiency by reducing costs per unit by almost 20%. The perspective mine development programme foresees attracting investments, more efficient use of available facilities, technical re-equipment, an increase of the production rate and improvement of the production quality.
